About the Role

Make a Difference Supporting Vulnerable Adults

Rotherwood Cares is recruiting on behalf of one of our valued clients for an experienced Housing Support Worker to join an established supported housing service in Blackburn on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and resilient support professional who is passionate about empowering vulnerable adults, promoting independence, and helping individuals achieve positive outcomes.

The service supports people with a range of needs, including mental health challenges, homelessness, complex needs, substance misuse, learning disabilities, autism, and domestic abuse. This is a rewarding role for someone who can build trusting relationships, provide practical support, and help individuals progress towards independent living.

About the Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing practical and emotional support to residents within a supported housing setting
  • Managing a caseload of service users and delivering person-centred support plans
  • Supporting individuals with complex needs, mental health challenges, homelessness, and substance misuse
  • Encouraging independence and helping residents develop the skills required to maintain their tenancies
  • Supporting with housing-related matters, including benefits, budgeting, appointments, and accessing community services
  • Building positive and professional relationships with service users
  • Completing support plans, risk assessments, case notes, and daily records accurately
  • Promoting safeguarding and maintaining a safe and supportive living environment
  • Responding appropriately to challenging situations and behaviours
  • Working collaboratively with external agencies and partner organisations to achieve the best outcomes

About You

We are looking for a Housing Support Worker who has:

  • Previous experience working within supported housing, homelessness, mental health, or complex needs services
  • Experience supporting individuals with multiple and complex support needs
  • The ability to manage a caseload and work independently
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships and encourage independence
  • A good understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and risk management
  • A resilient, proactive, and compassionate approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable adults

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within housing support or supported accommodation
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, mental health challenges and/or substance misuse
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable
