About the Role
Make a Difference Supporting Survivors of Domestic Abuse
Rotherwood Cares is recruiting for an experienced Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join a specialist safe accommodation service supporting women, children, and families affected by domestic abuse.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated support professional to provide trauma-informed, person-centred support to individuals experiencing crisis. You will play a key role in helping survivors achieve safety, stability, recovery, and independence within a safe and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be passionate about empowering individuals, promoting wellbeing, and supporting people to rebuild their lives following experiences of domestic abuse.
About the Role
As a Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you will be responsible for:
- Providing practical and emotional support to women, children, and families affected by domestic abuse
- Completing risk assessments, safety plans, and personalised support plans
- Managing a caseload of clients and delivering regular one-to-one support sessions
- Supporting clients to access housing, welfare benefits, healthcare, legal advice, education, training, and employment opportunities
- Advocating for clients and working alongside external agencies including housing providers, police, social services, healthcare professionals, and specialist support services
- Supporting individuals experiencing complex needs, including mental health concerns, self-harm, suicidal ideation, substance misuse, and social isolation
- Promoting confidence, resilience, independence, and positive wellbeing through person-centred support
- Maintaining accurate case records, safeguarding documentation, risk assessments, and support plans
- Attending multi-agency meetings and contributing to safeguarding processes where required
- Helping to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all residents
About You
We are looking for a Domestic Abuse Practitioner who has:
- Previous experience supporting vulnerable adults, families, or individuals experiencing crisis
- Experience within domestic abuse, refuge, housing, homelessness, safeguarding, mental health, family support, or similar services (desirable)
- Knowledge and understanding of risk assessment, safeguarding, and trauma-informed practice
- Experience managing a caseload and creating personalised support plans
- Strong communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records
- An understanding of confidentiality, professional boundaries, and safeguarding responsibilities
- A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and empowering survivors of domestic abuse
